My name is Jennifer and I am a 20-something year old Canadian living in Japan, enthusiast of all things fun, beautiful, and food related.
About two years ago (2013), I made the big move to a country on the other side of the world. Although I have always been drawn to Japan, starting at a young age, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was still a terrifying, intimidating, exiting, and thrilling decision. Now with two years here under my belt, I can still gladly admit that trusting my gut and following through with this choice has been rewarding and life changing in many ways.
Living abroad, away from people who speak your native language, you learn to appreciate the little things in life that maybe you took for granted previously back in your home country. Little things like reading a food menu, saying hello to a stranger, to going out for a coffee and eavesdropping on the table next to you become things that are not easily done elsewhere. Small habits or hobbies you may have had before are like little seedlings being planted that will come to bloom abroad into a flower bed full of passions for the picking. For me, my little seedlings in Canada were rooted in general interests like: exploring, fashion, and beauty. Once I moved to the land of the rising sun, I seemed to somehow have a garden full of things I wanted to do and accomplish. My everyday life here in Japan is great, doing what I always wanted and helping children in the classroom but I have come to realize that my working life and my personal life were not matching. Happy and satisfied in one and lacking in the other. Therefore, blog posts that will be uploaded onto here will be geared towards what I like. I am hoping for this blog to become my creative outlet that my working life just isn’t quite satisfying.
With all that in mind, thank you for taking the time to explore my blog, read my posts, and comment. I greatly appreciate the time you will take to peer into a fraction of my life and thoughts here in Japan.
