Favourite Shoe Trend: The Strappy Heel

When I was younger, I always loved to watch women wear heels and strut around. As I got older though, I realized that it was quite the task to wear them all the time. I have come pretty set in my ways about which heels I prefer more to others but last year I started noticing women wearing a style of shoes that looked so classy and chic, I just had to try it out.

DSC01918Which style of shoe am I referring too? I don’t even know the technical name fashionista`s use for it so I use my own. The ankle strap sandal heel. If you know the technical name for this heel, please comment on this blog and share your wisdom with me! (Thanks!!)

This heel appealed to me on so many different levels. First of all, I love that people started to pair these strappy heels together with jeans and a t-shirt giving their casual look an effortless sheen. Secondly, these heels are quite versatile. I like a shoe that can be multifunctional because that wear you can use the cost per wear equation and feel less guilty about your purchase. Thirdly, I LOVE the amount of skin that is showing on your feet. If you’re not a fan of showing too much skin, why not show off your beautiful toes! Lastly, there is something to be said about that ankle strap. It is thinning and elongating and the perfect little oomph to make your legs look flirts and sassy. I love seeing someone wear bare legs with these shoes because your eye is automatically drawn to the black or coloured strap at the ankle which is the skinniest part of your leg.

Now, that being said, I also felt there are some things to be aware of when wearing these heels. I personally didn’t find them to DSC00850 (4)be the most comfortable. I like to wear a heel that have a tiny platform in the front to balance out the tall heel in the back. These heels are usually found with little to zero platform in the front. Also, while wearing these heels, I suddenly became very aware of my feet. Did they smell funny? Are my blisters of corns showing? Did I cut my toenails so that they don’t resemble talons!?!? (If I wore nail polish, I would be worried about that too) I had insecurities about a part of my body I wasn’t aware of.

BUT after I took care of my feet`s needs, I didn’t think twice about those insecurities. It might seem like a high maintenance shoe but these upkeeps are actually quite simple and most people do them regardless of showing their feet or not. I highly recommend this style of shoe to anyone who naturally gravitates to heels. This timeless classic shoe is a must have and can be seen on the feet of many people whether runway or sidewalk.

Ta-ta for now,

Jennifer
